History

Buletin Profesi Insinyur, abbreviated as BPI, is a journal published by Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers Indonesia, South Kalimantan Chapter (PII Kalsel). This collaboration is an implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Engineering ULM and PII Kalsel, established in 2016.

Buletin Profesi Insinyur was first published in June 2018. The journal obtained its ISSN, 2654-5926, from LIPI on October 19, 2018. In December 2018, BPI published its second issue.

In 2019, the BPI manuscript template was improved. The new template provided an opportunity for articles to include more than two authors. Starting from Volume 2, the journal was also equipped with DOI and indexed by Google Scholar. In the same year, BPI was indexed in Sinta 4, marking an important milestone in improving the journal’s visibility and recognition in the Indonesian academic publication system.

Since 2019, the entire article review process has been managed and recorded online. Plagiarism checking has also been conducted using Turnitin. Reviewers from ULM, PII Kalsel, and partner institutions across Indonesia have been actively involved in supporting the quality assurance process of the journal.

The editorial board and reviewers of Buletin Profesi Insinyur consist of academics, engineers, practitioners, and experts from relevant engineering fields. Their involvement reflects the journal’s commitment to serving as a publication platform for engineers and to strengthening the relationship between academic knowledge, engineering practice, and professional experience.

Since 2025, Buletin Profesi Insinyur has strengthened its publication policy by publishing articles in English. This policy aims to expand the journal’s readership, improve international visibility, and support broader dissemination of engineering knowledge and professional engineering practices. Manuscripts may be submitted in Indonesian during the initial stage, but accepted articles must be translated into English before entering the final publication process.
